Women’s Dance Shoes
Shoes that fit your foot and your dance.
Women’s dance shoes are specialist footwear designed for specific dance styles – from social dancing (salsa, bachata) to competitive disciplines. They differ in construction, design, stability, and intended use.
There is no single pair of correct dance shoes – and often not even one ideal pair for one dance style. Every dancer is different: she has a different physiology, a different movement technique, and uses her shoes in a different context – from training through to multi-hour socials or competitions.
How to choose women’s dance shoes
The decision is not made by the brand name or by what your favourite dancer wears. It is made by how you dance – and what you actually need from your shoes.
Comfort and fit
The shoe must fit you well and must not restrict your movement. If it pinches or is too loose, you won’t wear it. Whether you’re going to salsa, bachata, or a competition – you need to be able to spend several hours in your shoes.
Type of dance and use
You need different shoes for salsa and bachata, for competition, and for training. Competitive ballroom dancing uses specific footwear – different for Standard, different for Latin. For salsa, bachata, or kizomba, comfort and durability come first.
Design last
You need to love how they look – but looks alone are not enough.
Women’s dance shoe brands
We only sell brands we have genuinely tested on the floor. The difference between them is not only in design – it is in construction, materials, and primary use.

| PortDance | Portugal, handcrafted | Competitions, technical dance |

PortDance: More precise construction and a stable feel in motion. Primarily competition footwear – best for situations where you are focused on technique and movement control. They also have models suitable for social dancing.
Akces Dance: Functional models without unnecessary extras, with an emphasis on footwork. Excellent value for money. A strong range of competition, training, children’s, and high-heels models – including shoes that handle real dancing, not just the visual.

Not sure what to choose?
Feel free to reach out – we’ll go through what you dance, what has worked or hasn’t worked for you so far, and recommend a specific model. If you can, stop by in person. The showroom works by appointment – it will be just you and either František or Monika giving you their full attention. You have about an hour to try shoes on and find what truly fits.
