How One Pair of Shoes Became a Shared Journey

It was a long time ago. Back when František wasn’t dancing yet. At one of the first editions of Hot Tatras, Monika bought a pair of dance shoes from Larisa. They were different from anything else available here at the time. They were comfortable, the arch fit perfectly, her toes didn’t slip out the front, and they barely stretched at all. She couldn’t resist them. And not only that — she decided she wanted to make them available to other dancers in Slovakia too. And that’s how Dance Shoes International Slovakia came to be.

Some time passed, and then František appeared. He brought new ideas and filled in what was missing. New brands joined — Volver and Taygra — and later we became the exclusive distributor of Larisa London for Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary. A website was born, and thanks to Dee, so was the name Latinky and this site. The showroom followed, then our Czech and Hungarian branches.

Our journey was never just about selling. The whole time, we’ve been — and still are — an active part of the dance community. And that’s exactly why we decided to take the next step…

Meet the Team

Monika Bolgáčová

I used to dance 7 days a week — these days I’m “retired” from dancing. It used to be hard to find dance shoes in Slovakia with a good price-to-quality ratio that were also narrow enough. Then in 2010, I came across a brand that checked both boxes. I was thrilled, and I wanted to bring it to other dancers in Slovakia too — and that’s how it all began 😉

These days I handle customer orders, plan orders for new models, and manage the warehouse. And whenever I get the chance to be “out in the field,” I love helping people find shoes that are, above all, comfortable.

František Bolgáč

I’m the one on our team you’ll see more of 😉 And definitely hear more of.
I’ve been part of the dance community since 2011. Salsa got me first, then bachata joined in, and eventually I fell hopelessly into kizomba.

These days I don’t have as much time to dance, and you’re more likely to spot me among the dance shoes than on the dance floor. Besides dancing, fashion is also one of my hobbies, and I really love helping people find shoes that not only fit well, but suit them too.
