Why a low heel for Standard dances?
Standard dances demand a stable platform from the boy for long, smooth steps and correct lead. A low heel – max. 2.5 cm for all Juvenile and Junior categories under WDSF rules – guarantees a firm stance and safe weight management without straining a child’s ankle.
One pair for Juvenile I and II, two pairs from Junior I
For Juvenile I and Juvenile II the permitted heel is the same for both Latin and Standard dances (max. 2.5 cm). A standard black shoe therefore covers both disciplines – no need to buy two pairs. From Junior I, where Latin dances allow a higher heel (3.5 cm), having two separate pairs starts to make sense.
